July 2012 project update

July was a big month for the King Island Renewable Energy Integration Project (KIREIP). The Diesel Uninterruptible Power Supply generation units (D-UPS) have been moved into their newly constructed bays and fuel, exhaust and electrical connections have begun. All of the new high voltage (HV) switch gear has now been installed and commissioned. While the HV gear is a supporting element of KIREIP it is vital to the success of the project. It provides the connection points for the new equipment and will increase electricity supply reliability and allow the team to test new equipment while maintaining power supply to customers.
